BSE|3D have worked directly for Colt Data Centres at their Welwyn site since 2014. At that time Colt were utilising a modular data centre design for the initial data halls in the facility. They approached us to develop a new design to achieve the lowest PUE values possible to be rolled out on the new halls to be built in the facility.

BSE|3D worked closely with various manufacturers as well as Colt’s MEP design team to addition, various solutions until we found the most suitable, cost efficient and economical design. This was our first fully fledged REVIT MEP design fully detailed and modelled with selected BIM interfaces. The project achieved a PUE of less than 1.2 which was significant in 2014 compared to their competitors making it one of the most efficient and environmentally considerate data centres in the world.

The project was rolled out year after year and we have to date built 12 data halls utilising this bespoke design on this site. In addition, Colt were so pleased with our performance and attention to detail that they employed us on other projects both at Welwyn, Powergate, as well as their Roosendaal site in the Netherlands.
