According to the EngineeringUK & Lightcast “Engineering Skills Needs” report, the UK needs 173,000 new engineers and technicians by 2030 just to keep up with demand.  This growth rate is faster than almost any other sector in the economy.   At the same time, the Institution of Engineering and Technology’s 2025 Skills Survey found that 76% of engineering employers are already struggling to recruit for key roles. And if nothing changes, research from the Society of Engineers projects a shortfall of 1 million engineers in the UK by 2030.

From M&E and HVAC design on hospital frameworks to critical power and cooling in data centres, from school rebuilding programmes to high-end hotel fit-out.  Our team of engineers bring the technical expertise and sector knowledge to deliver projects.

What we are seeing right now

Data centre demand has surged across the UK and the world, driven by cloud infrastructure growth and AI workloads. Healthcare is in a sustained build and refurbishment cycle. Defence spending is up, bringing with it increased demand for consultancy expertise in secure environments. Education projects stemming from the government’s school rebuilding programme continue to create significant pipeline across the built environment.

Meanwhile, the engineering workforce is ageing. According to the ECITB Workforce Census 2024, nearly 14.7% of UK engineering workers are now over 60, up from 11.6% in 2021. As experienced professionals approach retirement, the gap between supply and demand will only widen.
